Town Hall!

The Town Hall was interesting, and not quite what i hoped. it took roughly 15-20 minutes for all the citizens to arrive, so the rest of us were waiting. Did i mention we had to sit on the floor? ugh. Well everyone was talking, even during the speeches. Some weren't even that good. I don't know. I can't write the speeches because my fingers would get sore, but instead i'll just say how they did. I found John Lord's speech fantastic, and practical. Perrault's speech was short, and I found everyone started getting restless after that(bored? we may never know...). I found Nenshi's speech was expressionless, and after that everyone was EXTRA restless(i don't even know). I found it was also missing heart. With Sunstrum's speech, he only talked about the environment(the same ideas as most people: more trees, more parks, electric cars, yada yada...) yet he used probably 40 posters. poor trees. With Bruce's speech, at the end he said "VOTE FOR ME!" that seems kind of desperate to me.... Any who, Papez's speech was lacking expression(it was hard for me to pay attention, everyone talking, and my butt was sore from sitting on the floor.). But Sandra's speech had lots of expression, and some good ideas. she thought of using part of the "weed" plant to make paper, but the older citizens thought people would use it to their "advantage". 1. you only use part of the plant. 2. the drug comes from the bud. 3. its harmless, though the entire plant is banned from the country because people are worried about you-know-what. Carter's speech was shorter than i expected, but well put. Well that was all the speeches. During the questions someone asked what was different about most of them, because a lot of the things they wanted to do were the same. I'm pretty sure only 3 people could answer that. We-ell it looks like most people are going to vote depending if the person is their friend. OH. OH. i forgot to say, most people interviewed 1(yes i repeat ONE) person and decided they would vote for them. i just... i don't.. some people are so immature....

INTERVIEWING: Sandra Hunter!

Ivy: so what do you plan on doing if you are elected?
Sandra: i plan on making Calgary eco friendly, and reducing cutting down trees.
Ivy: what are you plans on the taxes?
Sandra: um, well i find that people are paying so much taxes, and things are going down the drain, and the money is being wasted. so i'm planning on giving the 52. million dollars back to the taxpayers because we are not using it for any  thing so it can be used for food and water and things like that.
Ivy: any thing else you pan on doing?
Sandra: um, i also plan on helping the flood relief because thats important to me, my family, because i think that we should give back to the city. tis our city, we should give back to it, we should hep our fellow neighbours.
Ivy: ok thanks!
Sandra: is that all you need?
Ivy: yep! bye!


it took me FOREVER to type that, but it was a good interview! but i wonder how she'll pay for flood damage if she's giving the money back. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

WHAT?! continued...

ok so there are posters LITERALLY EVERYWHERE, and some posters have been posted on "private property" without permission, and people are claiming others copied their posters, and yada yada. some candidates used probably 30 pieces of paper and plastered them everywhere. people are putting posters over posters, and there is NO WHERE to hide from the posters... and it wastes paper, even though the candidates are like "care about the environment!" there isn't a spot in the building without a poster.... and it wastes paper. sorry i'm passionate about the environment but STILL! ok i could go on ranting about this but it would be a long post, so bye!

Ivy: what is your job in this election?
Sandra: my job is campain manager, and so its the job to keep charge of everyone. you make sure everything is going smooth, make sure there is no problem, and everything.
Ivy: what is one p
Sandra: i didn't really have any problems, expet mine is an easy job so i was bored,
Ivy:  what are one of the other things you have to do as campain manager
Sandra: the job is just to keep everything in line.
Ivy: thanks for your time!
Sandra: your welcome! peace out dude! *fist pump*

INTERVIEWING: Steve Brooks!

Ivy: so what are your needs as a citizen?
Steve: well, my needs are, like when i go out with my friends, to like, drink, after i want a save ride home so i get a taxi, but lately there are NO taxies, and when i'm waiting i'm either bored out of my mind, or i am freezing cold.
Ivy: who do you think could help with this problem?
Steve:well, i went to go ask some of the mayors, and they said- well most of them said- that uh they'll add more or uh there is this one mayor who said maybe they could be on time, because this is really getting on my nerves when i have to wait out there, like cold and nothing to do.
Ivy: ok thanks for your time!
Steve: your welcome!

Ivy: What is you job as a speechwriter?
Alice: to write a speech for the mayor.
Ivy: anything else?
Alice: um... no.
Ivy: do you enjoy you job?
Alice: do i enjoy what? can you repeat the question please.
Ivy: do you enjoy your job?
Alice: no. wait... ish. first of all i don't know why i took this job because i hate writing.
Ivy: why do you hate you job?
Alice: no i'm not saying i hate my job! i like my job! i like my job... as speechwriter... iiits awesome!
Ivy: ok thats pretty much it!
Alice: yeah thats pretty much it can i go now?
Ivy: eeyup.

Ivy: What is your job?
Planner: i make schedule for my mayor.
Ivy: can you expand on that?
Planner:um, so, what i'm doing is that i'm taking schedules and date, and times, and location and what we are doing, and the mayor looks back on that, and i say thats just a reminder for me and Papez. sorry i really gotta go! this is a bad time...
Ivy: no problem.


This interview was short, but hey, people are short on time these days! it was good anyways because i was unsure what a planner did... well now i know!

INTERVIEWING: Perrault Papez!

Ivy: so why do you want to be elected?
Perrault: well i think i could bring a lot of good change to our community. i especially want to go to a "greener" approach.
Ivy: what kind of changes are you thinking of.
Perrault: um, i would like to go to a greener city, just adding electively powered buses, and cars that used elecricly powered cars, and improve the recycling and compost system. i would like to lower taxes and make more recreational facilities and give the kids the opportunity of exercise
Ivy: how do you plan to pay for all that when you are lowering the taxes?
Perrault: well, there were 52 million dollars wasted last year on practically nothing, and i would like to get that money back, and yeah. is that it?
Ivy: mmhm.
Perrault: ok see ya later.


I'm interested to see how Perrault will get the money back! i'm exited to see some new environmental change!

Going Great!

Wow! There are lots of posters and advertisements everywhere, even in the washroom! there must be at least 15 posters for each person, plastered all over the place. Even though it wastes paper, it is a great way to advertise, because its all anyone wants to talk about! the competition is going to be tough, but i'm sure everyone will try their hardest!

INTERVIEWING: Jon Lord

ok, so i got the chance to interview Jon lord!


Ivy: Thanks for coming! ok um, so why do want to be elected?
Jon: I want to be elected, cause I think there are somethings in this city that need to be fixed and aren't being treated well, like the taxes. the taxes are going up, and i think its horrible because small businesses are being taxed to death, and that means less jobs. also i want to improve our community by making it stronger by, um, i call it city soccer for kids program, and its where we want to help our kids become stronger athletes, because you can't have a strong city without strong citizens. and so, thats also what i want to ensure. i also want to help people who were damaged by the flood, because that flood was so devastating and so horrible, and just a plain disaster in our city, so i really want to help people that are struggling to pay rent, because their homes ---- and thats what i want to do.

Ivy: ok, it looks like theres a lot on your plate, but how do you plan to pay for all of that if you are lowering the taxes?
Jon: i'm going to talk to the government. i'm not lowering the taxes, i'm just not trying to raise them, like i don't want them to be raised or even be slightly lower, so i think i'll be able to do it, i'm a strong man, cause i'm a hard worker and i can volunteer. work can... really pay off.

Ivy: alright, so, it sounds like your going to get quite a lot of votes, because your quite the activist.

Jon: I sure am.

Ivy: Thanks for coming!

Jon: Your welcome.


WOW! this was truly amazing. it sounds like he is going to get a lot of votes, although he has a lot to work on. i'm really exited to see the competition!

I just don't know anymore...

Well this election is taking a turn! Someone ripped a poster and threw it in the trash, another person left a note on the ground saying not to vote for someone, and people are using bribery to get some votes. I find people are getting ridiculous. its very disappointing, the behaviour of some people, and maybe the candidates. Who knows what will happen next?!

INTERVIEWING: Yoga Instructor!

Ivy: How are you doing today?
Citizen: Good.
Ivy: So what are your thoughts on the election?

Citizen: sorta like, what do you mean with that?
Ivy: Do you have anything to say about the election?

Citizen: I like elections! thats what i have to say thank you very much. just kidding.
Ivy: Why do you like elections?

Citizen: Because it gives us a right to chose, and i like the feeling of the right to choose, and yeah.
Ivy: Who do you think will win the election?

Citizen: umm, like in our class or just in general?
Ivy: pretty much everyone.

Citizen: GO NORM PERRAULT!
Ivy: why do you think norm will win?

Citizen: cause he's awesome.
Ivy: Why is he awesome?

Citizen: because, he just is! he's the best person ever!
Ivy: What makes him the best person ever?

Citizen: Because, he cares about the environment, and how cars are infecting the environment, and he cares about animals and stuff.
Ivy: does he have any other motives that you know of?

Citizen: well, he cares about how homeless people are downtown, and how many people are starving downtown, and he wants to fix that problem
Ivy: what changes are you looking for in the city?

Citizen: changes, um, i want to change how, um, i wanna change, wait... one minute, oh i forgot. OH YEAH. in dog parks there are so much dog doo doo, and people should start PICKING UP their dog doo doo.
Ivy:ok thanks for your time.

Citizen: your welcome! it was a time well spent. i think. i dont know. I NEED TO DO SOMETHING.


 WELL that was a strange interview. hopefully the other interviews are better...
